Asian Style Sticky Ribs

I had pork ribs that were buried in my freezer, so I needed a new way of cooking them (just did bbq last week), this is what came to mind.  It takes some time and effort but I promise these will rock you taste buds.



4 lb. Pork Country Style Ribs (I do not recommend Beef Country Style Ribs)


3/4 C Orange Juice

1/4 C Honey

1/4 C packed Brown Sugar

1/4 C Soy Sauce (use GF if needed)

1/4 C Chili Sauce

2T Fresh Lemon Juice

1 T Rice Wine Vinegar

1 T Garlic Chili Sauce (can use Sriracha as substitute)

2 Cloves Garlic, minced

1/4 tsp. Ground Ginger

Grill Sauce:

1/4 C Hoisin Sauce (ensure GF and for me fish free)

1/4 C Honey

1/2 C Brown Sugar

2 T Orange Juice

2 T Soy Sauce (GF if needed)

1/2 T Rice Wine Vinegar

2 tsp. Fresh Ground Ginger


-In pot, place pork ribs, cover in water, add a heaping sprinkle of salt.  Bring pot to boil, reduce temp to low boil, cover and boil 15 minutes.

-Combine marinade ingredients, place ribs in airtight container or bag, pour marinade over ribs.  Place in fridge for 4-6 hours.  Remove from over 30 minutes prior to cooking.

-Combine grill sauce ingredients in a pot, over medium low heat bring to boil, stirring often cook until sauce thickens and reduces to almost half.  This sauce will thicken as it cools, so I placed in a pot safe for the grill and placed on grill (of course it was in the 30’s so it was cold here)

-Heat grill to medium high heat, cook ribs about 15-20 minutes,  slathering in sauce every 5 minutes, you want the sauce to get sticky on the ribs.  Remove from grill, cover in sauce and allow to sit for 10 minutes prior to serving.  Top with scallions or toasted sesame seeds.  Enjoy!
