Ive been making this for years, but that’s to this blog I finally wrote down the recipe. I hope you all love it as much as I do (I hate regular lasagna lol.)
2 T Butter
3/4 C Milk
1 T Worcestershire Sauce
Pinch Black Pepper
1 C Spaghetti Sauce
8 Slices Bacon, cooked crisp, crumble (reserve 3T)
2 T Bacon Grease
1 lb. Lean Ground Beef
1 Large Yellow Onion, diced
1 Garlic Clove, minced
2T Pickled Banana Peppers, diced
1 1/2 C Whole Milk Ricotta Cheese
1 T Burger Seasoning
1 1/2 tsp. Spicy Mustard
1 tsp. Ketchup
Salt and Pepper
1/4 C Spaghetti Sauce
2 C Cheddar Cheese,shredded
1 C Monterrey Jack Cheese, shredded
1/2 C Mozzarella Cheese, shredded
Lasagna Noodles (regular or GF)
-In medium pot over medium low heat melt butter, add in flour and whisk until butter and flour create roux. Add in milk and Worcestershire, whisk and ensure that all of roux is dissolved. Add in nutmeg, pepper and red sauce. Mix well, set aside.
-In large skillet heat bacon grease over medium heat, add in onion, garlic and beef. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Cook until meat is almost done but still slightly pink. Pour in white sauce mixture. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool until about room temperature. Add in crumbled bacon and banana peppers.
-In small bowl, combine ricotta, burger seasoning, mustard and ketchup. Mix well.
-Combine all cheeses.
-In 13X9 inch backing pan pour in 1/4 C spaghetti sauce, layer bottom of pan with 4-5 noodle, can over lap. Top with half of meat mixture, then half of ricotta and then 1/2 of cheese. Do this one more time, top with remaining 3T bacon crumbles. Cover with foil.
-Bake 350 degrees for 30 minutes, uncover and bake an additional 15 minutes, remove from oven and cover with foil, allow to rest 15 minutes prior to serving. Enjoy!
