Asian Inspired Chicken Sandwich

I was bored with the usual bbq pulled chicken sandwiches, so this recipe was born.  The apple butter was added since I had fresh made from my mother, I think she makes the best.



2 Lb. Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast

1 /2 C Chicken Broth

2 T Soy Sauce Dipping Sauce (can use just soy sauce)

1/2 C Apple Butter

1 tsp. Chinese Five Spice

1 T Sugar

2T Cornstarch



-Place all ingrdients except cornstarch in crockpot, cook high about 3.5-4 hours.  Remove chicken and shred.

-Use 1/4 C of cooking broth and add in cornstarch, ensure cornstarch is mixed with broth.  Pour into crockpot, cook on high until sauce is thickened about 15 minutes

-Add chicken back to crockpot, serve on top of favorite sandwich bread.  Enjoy!

These are great topped with Asian style coleslaw.
