Sweet Tea Chicken

This recipe may sound crazy, but trust me even teenagers(some of the pickiest people I know, lol )will inhale this.  I created this recipe years ago, when a roommate decided chicken was the protein for dinner but didn’t have any idea what to do with it.  So in a rush, raiding the fridge, this was created.  Though the brine was created along the way, the end result is so tasty, you may question why you’ve never thought of this yourself.

1 C Sweet Tea

1 C Water

2T Salt

Grilling Sauce:

1 1/2 C Sweet Tea

1/3 C Orange Juice

Juice of 1 Lime

1/3 C Brown Sugar

3/4 C White Sugar

1 1/2 tsp. Paprika

1 tsp. Chili Powder

1 T Honey (optional)

Salt (I used Garlic Salt) and Pepper to taste

-Heat over medium sweet tea, add in water and salt.  Stir until salt dissolves.  Allow to cool completely.

-Place chicken of choice in plastic, sealable bag, pour cooled brine over chicken.  Place chicken in fridge over night, flipping bag over half way through.

-Drain brine off of chicken.  Heat grill per the usual temperature for cooking.

-Combine all ingredients in bowl.  Brush on chicken as it cooks (I like to save some prior to cooking for dipping later).  Enjoy!
