One Skillet Beef and Broccoli with Potatoes

Ingredients:

1/5 lbs. Beef Steak, sliced into thin strips (any will work, I used Ribeye)

3 Cloves Garlic

2 T Cornstarch

1 tsp. Soy Sauce (use GF if needed)

3 T Water

1/2 Yellow Onion, minced

1 large Bundle Broccoli, florets removed

2C Potatoes, peeled, diced small, parboiled+

Oil for cooking

Sauce:

1/2 C Chili Sauce (use GF)

1/4 C Soy Sauce (use GF)

1/4 C Water

1 T Garlic Chili Sauce

2T Rice Wine Vinegar

2T Toasted Sesame Seeds*

2T Cornstarch

1T Brown Sugar

1/4 tsp. Ground Ginger

1/4 tsp. Chinese Five Spice (cinnamon is a good substitute)

Hot Sauce Such as Sriracha to taste

Direction:

-In bowl combine water, cornstarch and soy sauce.  Toss garlic and beef in mixture.  Allow to sit in mixture for 30 minutes.

-Combine all sauce ingredients in separate bowl, set aside.

-In large pan with lid, add 1 T Oil over medium low heat, toss in broccoli, and simmer for 5 minutes.  Remove from pan.

-Add 2 T Olive oil over medium heat, add in beef and garlic, and cook about 2 minutes.  Add in potatoes and broccoli, cook about 2 more minutes.  Add in sauce, and bring to simmer, reduce temperature to low and cover and simmer for 15 minutes.

-Can top with additional toasted sesame seeds for serving.  Enjoy!

+To parboil, place potatoes in small pot, sprinkle with salt, cover in water, bring to boil, reduce temp and cook 8-10 minutes or until partially tender, drain and set aside.

  • To toast sesame seeds, place in skillet over medium heat, and cook, stirring often for about 5 minutes or until golden brown, remove.
