This is a fun and delicious spin on any classic popcorn recipes. You are essentially making a caramel flavored toffee to go on top.
Ingredients:
5 C Popped, Popcorn
1/2 C Water
3 C Sugar
3 T Butter
1 1/2 tsp. Sea Salt
1 1/2 tsp. Baking Soda
3/4 tsp. Chili Powder (can use cayenne), optional
6 Sliced Bacon, cooked and crumbled
Directions:
-Place cooked popcorn in large bowl, set aside. Line baking sheet with parchment paper. In small bowl, combine chili powder and baking soda, set aside.
-In medium pot, over medium high heat, add salt, butter and sugar, stir to dissolve sugar. Allow to cook without stirring until mixture is golden brown.
-Remove from heat, stir in baking soda and chili powder, fold in bacon. Working quickly pour over popcorn, and stir to combine. Place covered popcorn on baking sheet and allow to cool. Break apart, and store in airtight container in refriderator about one week…if it lasts that long. Enjoy!
