Funeral Sandwiches

Don’t let the name scare you, these have the name they do because they “Are to die for”.  I have spun the usual recipe you find online, mine are actual sandwiches, and not the usual sliders.

6 Sub Rolls ( I prefer white rolls)

12-18 Slices Ham (2-3 Slices per sandwich)

6 Slices of Swiss Cheese

1/4-1/2 tsp. Poppy Seeds for dusting (optional)

Marinade Sauce:

1/2 Stick Butter, melted

1T Minced Yellow Onion, 2 tsp. if using dried onion

3T Worcestershire Sauce

2T Brown Sugar

1T Spicy Mustard

1T Honey Mustard (can use Dijon Mustard)

Dash Garlic Salt

-In small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.  Add in all other ingredients for sauce, bring to low boil, reduce heat and simmer 3-5 minutes.

-Cut rolls open if they didn’t come pre-cut.  Add 2-3 slices of ham per sandwich.  Place slice of cheese over entire sandwich.  Place top on sandwich.  Place made sandwiches in deep baking dish (I used 13X9 and an 8X8).

-Brush marinade over all of sandwiches, you want to add some to the sides and ends as best as possible.

-Cover with foil and refrigerate for at least 4 hours (I find best result overnight).  Bake 350 for 10 minutes covered, uncover and bake additional 10-15 minutes, or until cheese is melted and tops are browned. Remove from oven.  Allow to cool a little before serving.

-These can be cut smaller for appetizers or used whole as a meal.  Enjoy!
