I love French Onion Soup, so I decided to create it in another form. The flavor of this gravy is amazing and pairs well with beef.
1/3 C Onion, chopped
1/4 C Flour*
3 C Beef Broth
1 Package French Onion Soup Mix (GF Version Here: https://junecleaver21stcenturystyle.wordpress.com/2015/06/18/onion-soup-mix-gluten-free/ )
1 tsp. Fresh Thyme (optional)
-In medium saucepot, melt butter over medium-low heat, add in onion and a sprinkle of salt. Sauté for about 3 minutes, lower temp, cover and cook about 15 minutes.
-Stir in flour, this will create a paste like consistency. Increase temp to about medium.
-Stir in beef broth, ensuring roux dissolves completely. Add in onions soup mix and thyme. Bring to boil, lower temperature, and allow to simmer about 15 minutes. Serve warm. Enjoy!
*To make GF, use 5 T GF All Purpose Flour, and use the GF soup mix.
