Homemade Croutons

If you ever have day old bread, this is a great way to re-purpose the bread without having to throw it out.  These are great in a salad or even in soup.

4-5C Bread, cut into cubes

2T Butter, unsalted

2T Olive Oil

1/2 tsp. Italian Seasoning

1/2tsp. Garlic Salt

1/4 tsp. Dried Parsley, crushed

Dash Onion Powder

-Place bread cubes in bowl.  Place all other ingredients in small saucepan over low heat.  Heat until butter melts, stiring often, you want the salt to dissolve and the spices to soften.

-Pour melted butter mixture over the bread, and stir the bread to coat evenly.  Don’t worry if some cubes have more coating than others, this will not affect the end result. Place coated cubes on baking sheet, I suggest lining with aluminum foil or parchment paper.

-Bake 375 degrees for about 20-30 minutes (oven times will vary), mixing them up half way through cooking.  Allow to cool completely before storing.
