Homestyle Chili

My husband swears by this recipe, he claims its the best thing he’s ever had.  The kiddos love it as well.  There are a few random additions that many may not typically put in their recipe, but definitely try it out in your next chili recipe.

Ingredients:

1 lb. Ground Beef (have used chicken and turkey)

1 Large Onion, diced

2 Cans Chili Beans

1 C Garbonzo Beans, drained

1/4 C Bell Pepper, chopped

1 Can Dark Red Kidney Beans, drained

1 12. oz Can Spicy V8 Juice, optional

1 Can Rotel, Chili Style

1 Can Tomatoes (and kind is fine, I typically use diced fire roasted, but have use stewed as well)

1/4 C Brown Sugar

1 tsp. Cinnamon

1 oz. Dark Chocolate (have used chili infused before)

Chili Seasoning to taste

Salt and Pepper to taste

Directions:

-Cook ground meat and onion in saucepan until brown( if really greasy drain some but not all, you want some in the finished product). Add all other ingredients to crockpot, add in meat.  Cook on low over night( I typically cook low for 8 hours, then warm til ready to eat).  Its my opinion that the longer this cooks the better it gets.  If you like your chili less thick, simply add a bit of water to thin out the mix.

-Served best with chips, sour cream and even shredded cheese.
