terryaki sauceIngredients:

1 C Water

1/4 C Soy Sauce (Japanese style is better, but can use Chinese..its more salty)**

1/4 tsp. Ground Ginger

2 Cloves Garlic, minced

1/4 C Orange Juice (Can use water)

3T Brown Sugar

2T Cornstarch

1-2 T Honey(amount depends on how sweet you want your sauce)

  1. Mix all ingredients but cornstarch and orange juice in small sauce pan.  Heat slowly, so try to keep heat below medium.

  2. In another bowl mix cornstarch and OJ together.

  3. When small bubbles start to appear around outer edge of sauce in pan, whisk in cornstarch mixture. Continue to heat, stir occasionally to ensure nothing sticks or burns, continue cooking until desired thickness is achieved.

*If you wish to make your sauce spicy, you can add in cayenne or chili powder.  Amount depends on taste.

**To make gluten free, you must use GF soy sauce.  Also to avoid too much salt reduced sodium versions are a good option.
