1C Baby Bella Mushrooms, cut into small pieces
1 Garlic Clove, minced
1-2 Green Onions, sliced thin
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/3 C Butter, 1T Bacon Fat ( not necessary, there for flavor)
1/3 C Flour*
1C Vegetable or Chicken Broth
2/3 C Heavy Cream (can use whole milk)
-Can add any other spices or herbs to match your meal. Thyme and Rosemary are great, but whatever you choose will be just as good.
- Melt butter over medium/low heat in medium saucepan. Add salt, pepper and mushrooms, garlic and onion, saute until mushrooms start to soften.
2. Whisk in flour until roux is formed. Add in liquid ingredients and whisk to combine.
3 Allow to simmer for about 10 minutes.
-The consistency of this sauce is similar to condensed soup, so it goes great over rice. If you want more of a gravy type sauce just increase your broth amount (small with about 1/4 C and go up) to reach the desired consistency you wish to reach.
*To make Gluten Free, simply substitute GF flour for regular. This recipe is a 1 to 1, so you shouldn’t have any issues.
