Store bought wonton wraps*
4 Ounces Ground Chicken**
4-6 Water Chestnuts (drained and finely chopped)
3-4 Green Onions (finely chopped)
1/2 tsp Chinese Five Spice Powder+
1 T Reduced Sodium Soy Sauce (can use regular)
1 tsp White Sugar
1 1/2 tsp Sesame Oil
1/2 C Oil for frying++
1. Cook chicken in medium saucepan until browned evenly.(**You can use BL/SL chicken breast, boil in chicken broth for 10-12 min each side, place in Ninja or hand ground)
2. Drain chicken and place in medium bowl with remaining ingredients (minus wonton wraps and frying oil) Mix thoroughly.
3. Heat oil in large skillet. Working in small batches, place approximately 1 T of mix in center of each wonton wrap, press edges to seal.
4. Cook in oil until bottoms are slightly browned (you can just fry them, that’s what my family likes, once brown on both sides place on paper towel lined plate and skip the water), place approximately 1/3 c of water in pan, cover and cook another 5 min.
*These can be found in the freezer section or in the produce section of most grocery stores. I also have a recipe to make your own.
+Cinnamon can be used instead of Chinese Five Spice Powder. Just don’t use a full 1/2 tsp or it may over power the dumplings.
++You can use any oil of your choice, just ensure you are using one made for high heat (so no Olive oil). I prefer Peanut with a bit of Coconut Butter.
-I prefer to add more water chestnuts and more green onion, but you can add whatever ingredients you may wish to suit your tastes.
